Rebecca Jones
I work across sculpture and installation, often using drawing, text, artist books and film. My practice is semi-autobiographical and explores the relationship between memory and landscape, informed by my observation of the fraying relationship I have with my hometown. Since recognising that both the place and I are changing, spiralling out of sync at the same time, I have begun to consider how we, collectively, might reflect on our relationship to a place in which we are no longer part of. Although my practice stems from my own experiences and narratives of home, memory and family, they are disrupted with wider concerns such as industry, geology and technology. My hope is that through embodying these interconnected narratives I can obscure the personal and am able to represent a universal relationship to place.
